Yes. Teachers receive their tentative assignments by the end of the school year (elementary teachers get their grade level; secondary teachers get their specific courses within their subject areas). If there is any change in such assignment during the summer recess or after the beginning of the school year, the teacher will be notified of the change and be given the opportunity to discuss it with Administration.
If the Administration initiates a transfer without following this procedure, the teacher can request a conference with the building principal, Assistant Superintendent for Personnel, and if requested, a member of the East Stroudsburg Area Education Association. Reasons for the transfer will be discussed, and if requested, reduced to writing and given to the employee within three working days following the conference. Should the employee disagree with the reasons of transfer, the employee can respond specifically to those reasons and request that the reasons and response be placed in his/her personnel file.
